Björn studied biology at the University of Cologne (Germany). In 2015 he obtained his PhD in the laboratoy of Prof. Dr. Axel Roers at the Institute for Immunology at the Technische Universität Dresden (Germany), where he generated and characterised mouse models of rare auto-immune disorders. For his postdoc he subsequently joined the laboratory of Prof. Dr. Veit Hornung at the Institute for Molecular Medicine at the University Hospital Bonn (Germany) as well as at the Gene Center at the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich (Germany) investigating the role of the cGAS-STING signaling pathway in type I interferon-mediated diseases. After a second postdoc in 2019 at the Core Facility “Model Development” of the Leibniz Research Institute for Environmental Medicine in Düsseldorf (Germany) he moved back to Munich where he joined the Opsyon project in March 2020 as a trustful, committed and reliable team member. Following his education, Björn adds deep knoweldge and expertise in the field of immunology and is responsible for flow cytometry-based analyses and in vitro toxicity assays.
